Fundraiser Benefits Animals At Lakewood Shelter

The Hair of the Dog fundraiser will feature a dunk tank where attendees can send Mayor Mike Summers into the water.

LAKEWOOD, OH — The 14th Annual Hair of the Dog Happy Hour and Silent Auction will be held on Friday at Around the Corner. The event benefits the Citizen's Committee for the Lakewood Animal Shelter (CCLAS).

The event features raffle baskets and silent auction items, including a pair of diamond earrings donated by Marlen Jewelers. The earrings are valued at nearly $2,000.

This year will also feature a dunk tank. Attendees will have the chance to send some locally famous faces into a pool of water. The dunkees include Lakewood Mayor Michael Summers and Chief Prosecutor for the City of Cleveland Karrie Howard.

The committee also provides any necessary supplies for maintaining foster homes for animals in need, and ensures all animals adopted through LAS are spayed and neutered. Approximately 200 animals are adopted through LAS each year.

The Hair of the Dog fundraiser is one of the primary support mechanisms for both CCLAS and, by extension, the Lakewood Animal Shelter.
