Gunshots Fired At Store In Lakewood: Police

A suspect is in custody after they fired a gun multiple times inside a Metro PCS store.

LAKEWOOD, OH — Gunshots were fired at the Metro PCS store on Detroit Avenue in Lakewood on Tuesday night.

According to police reports obtained by Patch, a man fired gunshots inside the store at 6 p.m. He then ran out of the store and tried to elude police by running through the backyards of houses.

Officers eventually cornered the man behind a home on Lakewood Avenue and took him into custody, police said. The suspect had a Springfield handgun in his possession, reports said.

The suspect is now in custody at Westlake City Jail, police reports indicate. Lakewood City Jail is undergoing renovations.

No one was hurt in the shooting, according to Lakewood Police Chief Kevin Kaucheck.

Additional details on the suspect cannot be released until he is formally charged with a crime, Kaucheck said. Police expect to charge the suspect today.
