I-90 Bridge Work Could Impact Lakewood, Rocky River
Lakewood and Rocky River residents are being asked for their input on a proposed bridge project.

LAKEWOOD, OH — Lakewood and Rocky River residents are being asked for their input on a proposed I-90 bridge project.
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is proposing repairs to the I-90 bridge over the Rocky River Reservation. Because crews would have to work on park property, resident input is required by law.
Proposed work on the bridge includes steel repairs, patching, and repairs to the driving surface, along with replacement of fencing along the bridge.

During construction, there would be off-peak lane closures on I-90 over Rocky River and short-term closures on Valley Parkway and the Valley Parkway multi-purpose trail.
"Flaggers will be used to maintain vehicular traffic on Valley Parkway and the multi-purpose trail during the short-tem closures, which will be taken in intervals of 15 minutes or less," ODOT said.

The project is set to begin in 2021 and will cost approximately $3 million.
Parts of the Rocky River Reservation have been enhance through the Land & Water Conservation Fund. Due to those enhancements, public input is required before park property can be used for the bridge repairs.
"Since park property is located beneath and on both sides of the bridge, there is no feasible alternative to repair the bridge without entering onto Metropark property. The Cleveland Metroparks has agreed with ODOT’s efforts to minimize impacts to park property," ODOT said.
