Lakewood Mayor Appointed To Education Committee

LAKEWOOD, OH — The Ohio Mayors Alliance appointed Lakewood Mayor Meghan George to its Education Advocacy Leadership Committee this week.

"It is an honor to be appointed to this committee by the Ohio Mayors Alliance. Education is undoubtedly one of the most important issues facing communities like Lakewood across Ohio," George said in a statement.

The committee will focus on educational attainment for Ohioans and workforce development, the alliance said. Mayors will share their program ideas, policy priorities and coordinate advocacy for state and federal benefits.

"Cities rely on a healthy and robust workforce to succeed economically and socially, so I am excited to be part of this next step in strengthening and advancing Ohio’s educational future," George added.

The Education Advocacy Leadership Committee's stated goal is for Ohioans to attain a post-secondary education or other credential by 2025.

We know that focusing on Ohio’s educational attainment will benefit people from all communities and backgrounds.
