Lakewood Shooting: 44-Year-Old Identified By Medical Officials
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's office released the identity of the man shot to death in Lakewood on Sunday.
LAKEWOOD, OH — On Sunday morning, a 44-year-old man was shot to death in Lakewood. On Monday morning, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner identified the slain man as Shontell Rose.
Rose, from Lakewood, was found dead inside an Elmwood apartment. The medical examiner's team reported that his death is being classified as a suspected homicide.
Gunshots were heard near the Elmwood apartment on Sunday morning. When police arrived to investigate, they found several spent shell casings outside of Rose's apartment door. When Rose didn't answer, police forced their way inside.

They found Rose inside the apartment, with a gunshot wound to his head. He was declared dead at the apartment.
No one else appears to have been hurt in the shooting, Police Chief Kevin Kaucheck told Patch.

A 19-year-old was taken into custody hours after the shooting, Lakewood police said. His involvement in the shooting is under investigation and his identity has not been announced. No formal charges have been filed connected to this case, police said.
"Detectives are working to identify other parties possibly present at the shooting and are working on several promising leads," Lakewood police said in a statement on Sunday evening.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation has been asked to assist in the processing of the crime scene.
