Lakewood Walgreens Robbed at Gunpoint, Suspects at Large

Police say Detroit Ave. pharmacy has been robbed twice in less than a week.

The Walgreens Pharmacy on Detroit Avenue in Lakewood was robbed at gunpoint overnight for the second time in less than a week, according to police.

Reports say that two armed male suspects, who were clad in all black, entered the 24-hour pharmacy shortly before 2 a.m. brandishing pistols and demanding cash from the store’s cash registers.

The suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of money and had fled the scene by the time law enforcement officers had arrived. No injuries were reported.

Lakewood Police said they’d spotted one of the suspects at a nearby intersection, but after a short chase, he escaped on foot and remains at large.

Just days before, the same Walgreens store was robbed by an a man who demanded money and helped himself to a bag of potato chips and a cold soda after he threatened to shoot a store employee. Police said they do not think that the two robberies are related in any way.
