New Taco Bell Taking Shape

The reconstruction of the Taco Bell on Detroit Avenue is moving right along.

The walls for the new structure are already up, after the massive overhaul only began a couple weeks ago.

It took a couple of months to get there, but the designs for the restaurant's renovation look less like a hacienda and more like a pedestrian-friendly and architecturally sensitive building to Lakewood.

Think shaded bricks, enclosed trashcans and toned-down signs and colors.

Those are a few of the typical revisions offered by the city’s architectural board of review, which placed its stamp of approval on the plans earlier this summer.

Construction is expected to wrap up this fall.
