50 years ago the Cuyahoga River was on fire. The pictures and memories have lived a long time and didn't contribute to helping Cleveland improve their reputation. But now things have changed since this event was a catalyst for establishing the EPA which has helped to clean not only Cleveland's waterways but the waterways for the whole country.
The 2nd annual Blazing Paddles, (paddleboard, kayak and canoe paddlefest) took place June 22 to celebrate recovery from this infamous event. There was also a rowing regatta taking place, all in the area around Merwin's Wharf.
