LAKEWOOD, OH — In September, Lakewood City Council members, John Litten and Meghan George organized a final opportunity for Lakewood citizens and former employees to visit and say goodbye to Lakewood Hospital. Some of the attendees were upset that the event was limited to the Atrium area of hospital, saying that they wanted to see parts of the hospital like the Birthing Center where many hospital memories were made.

The City of Lakewood made arrangements for members of the media to take a final tour and allowed Patch to photograph the building.

Some parts of the old hospital have been vacant for a couple years and others were occupied until the very last day that the hospital was open. Certain areas have been left just as they were, like an office in the boiler room — like a time capsule, everything is still there.
