SPIRE Institute "breathes life" into basketball

Inspiration has at its root the Greek word "spire" which means to breathe life into. The SPIRE Institute Basketball Academy out of Geneva, Ohio does just that when they demonstrate their basketball prowess. It's a joy to watch them play especially if one is a hoops fan (like me). So when they play locally, many people come out to see them.

That was the case in Lakewood on Sat. night (1/26/19) at St. Edward HS. I've never seen their gym as packed as it was and as loud as it was. The Eagles of St. Eds put up a good fight but they couldn't contend with the height, speed and shooting of SPIRE. This was especially evident when their guard Rocket Watts (committed to Michigan State) lit up the court with a career high of 64 pts. with 15, 3-pointers. Interestingly, this was one week after he was snubbed for the McDonald's All-American squad. The final score was 122 -86.
