Summer Camps Coming To Lakewood

Camp Invention and the H20 Summer Camp will both be open to residents this summer.

LAKEWOOD, OH — A pair of summer camps will offer a sunny day getaway for Lakewood students and residents. Both H20 Summer Camp and Camp Invention will be open to Lakewood locals during the season.

For students in kindergarten to sixth grade, Camp Invention is a week-long summer camp that starts June 11. The camp is focused on exploring connections between science, technology, engineering and innovation.

"Children will work together to seek solutions to real-world problems and sharpen critical 21st century learning skills while rotating through several fascinating modules," said Lakewood City Schools on their website.

Camp participants will design their own smart homes, use tools to take apart robot dogs and compare inner mechanics, design tracks for their Optibots to follow and explore chemistry with non-Newtonian fluids.

"All activities give participants the opportunity to explore, discover and achieve while having fun. Local educators will facilitate program modules and enthusiastic high school students will serve as Leadership Interns, ensuring that one staff member is in place for every eight children," the school system said on its website.

Four sessions of the camp will be hosted, the first session starts June 11. The last session starts July 30.

"Camp applications will be drawn in a lottery after April 30th; remaining applicants will be placed on a waiting list," the city said on its website.
