Summer Events Returning In Lakewood: Arts Festival, Block Parties

With health orders lifted in Ohio, the city is giving the green light to many of its most popular summer events.

LAKEWOOD, OH — Lakewood city officials have altered their guidance and are giving the green light to many of the most-popular summer events.

Ohio's COVID-19 health orders will be lifted June 2, per Gov. Mike DeWine's recommendations. He cited the state's steady decline in case rates and gradually improving vaccination rates. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also issued new federal guidance, telling vaccinated Americans they no longer had to wear masks in public.

In response to the new health guidance, Lakewood officials have updated their plans for major summer events. Here's what's going on with your favorite annual happenings:

  • July 4th — The city will hold its annual fireworks display at Lakewood Park.
  • Friday Night Flicks — Five movies will be shown this summer, four at Lakewood Park and one at Madison Park. Information on dates and which movies will be screened will be released at a later date.
  • Concerts in the Park — City officials are hoping to host a "modified concert series" this summer.
  • Cleveland Shakespeare Festival — A performance of "Romeo and Juliet" will be held in Lakewood Park on Aug. 6 at 7 p.m.
  • Lakewood Arts Festival — The festival will be held this summer. Festivities are scheduled for Aug. 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, click here.
  • Block parties — Neighborhood block parties may be held this summer. To get more information about holding a block party on your street, click here.
  • Pavilions at Lakewood Park — The Kiwanis Pavilion and Gazebo at Lakewood Park can be reserved starting June 10. The Woman's Club Pavilion will remain closed due to an HVAC issue. When the HVAC issue is repaired, the pavilion will be open for rental.
