Suspected Shoplifter Found in a Dumpster
The following arrest information was supplied by the Lakewood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Dumpster turns out to a terrible hiding placeÂ
Police responded to the Walgreens on Detroit Avenue around 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 14. A manager was chasing a young man who had supposedly shoplifted from the store. Police followed the man through a yard and several other commercial properties—and soon took him into custody. They found him in the Dunkin Donuts dumpster.Â
Theft from a former friend

A resident in the 1000 block of Parkside Drive said a former friend came into her house, demanding money and her phone. She was able to get her phone back before he fled. Police responded at about 7:15 p.m. on Dec. 13. Police said the 20-year-old Lakewood man was caught and charged with petty theft, resisting arrest, obstructing official business and trespassing.

Petty theft was reported at the YMCA in the afternoon of Dec. 14. The person said a young man took his or her bus pass and some money.
Landlord troubles
A resident called police on Dec. 14 because his landlord entered his Madison Avenue apartment before the notice said he would. This has also happened in the past. Everyone was advised on the matter.
