LAKEWOOD, OH — Thanksgiving is Nov. 23. The holiday will be a time to celebrate family, friends and community in whatever form it takes. It'll also be a good time to devour as much food as a human stomach can handle.

For those that are looking to skip the cooking this year, there is at least one Lakewood restaurants that is offering Thanksgiving dinner specials. Pier W will have a special menu that Thursday and is accepting reservations. Call (216) 228-2250 to get your spot.

That said, the holiday will see many local institutions close down and trash collection services delayed for a day. Here's what you need to know to prep for the holiday.

Trash and recycling collection in the city will not take place on Thanksgiving. There may also be other changes to collection schedules during the week. Here's the planned trash and recycling collection schedule for the week of Thanksgiving.

  • Monday — 6:30 AM on Monday, November 20
  • Tuesday — 6:30 AM on Monday, November 20
  • Wednesday — 6:30 AM on Tuesday, November 21
  • Thursday — 6:30 AM on Wednesday, November 22
  • Friday — 6:30 AM on Friday, November 24

Several Lakewood institutions will be closed for the holiday, including: all Lakewood city departments, Lakewood Municipal Court, Lakewood Public Library, Lakewood YMCA and Lakewood Schools.

Lakewood Schools, most Lakewood city departments and Lakewood Municipal Court will also be closed Nov. 24.

Police and fire departments will be working Thursday and Friday. Trash collection services will be in operation on Friday.
