Two Armed Robberies Reported Within 4 Hours

Robberies: Two robberies were reported in Lakewood within four hours of each other. But, according to the suspects’ descriptions, they don’t appear to be related. 

Two women were robbed by two men while walking in the 14100 block of Franklin Boulevard at around 10:15 p.m. Aug. 11. Police found two men matching the description, but it wasn’t the robbers. 

Four hours later, a man was “pistol-whipped” and robbed by three men who stole his bicycle in the 1300 block of Cove Avenue at around 1:55 a.m. Aug. 12. Officers were unable to locate those suspects.

Drug abuse: A man was charged with drug abuse, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under suspension after a traffic stop at W. 117th Street and Carbon Road at around 2:20 a.m. Aug. 9.

“Relationship issues” A man returned to his home in 15700 block of Delaware Avenue at around 7:30 a.m. Aug. 9 to find a naked man in his house. The man ran over his girlfriend’s foot as he was speeding out of the driveway. Turns out, the couple is having some “relationship issues.”

Shoplifting: A man was charged with petty theft after he shoplifted ear-buds from Walgreens at around 3:45 p.m. Aug. 9.

Man sleeping on porch: Police received a call about a man who’s been sleeping on the porch of a vacant home in the 2000 block of Robin Street on Aug. 9.

Caught with stolen bike: Police responded to a report of a man who stole a bike in the 12000 block of Lake Avenue at around 6:30 p.m. Aug. 9. Officers found the man, who led them on a foot chase through the east side of the city, before he was caught and charged with receiving stolen property.

Drunken driving: A man was cited with operating a vehicle while intoxicated following a traffic stop in the 11800 block of Edgewater Drive at around 10:15 p.m. Aug. 10.

Sexual assault: A woman in the 2000 block of Magee Street told police that she was sexually assaulted in the early morning of Aug. 11.

Rock through windshield: Someone reported that a rock was tossed through the windshield of a car in the 12300 block of Madison Avenue at around 6 a.m. Aug. 11.

Car break-ins: About a half-dozen cars in the 1000 block of Estill Drive were broken into in the early morning of Aug. 11. Nothing of value was reported stolen.

Pit bull on the loose: Police received a report that a pit bull was running loose in the 1200 block of Hird Avenue at around 4:45 p.m. Aug. 11. The dog’s owner was cited.

Gun found: A man found a gun inside of a bag on top of a trash bin in the 12000 block of Edgewater Drive at around 6:45 p.m. Aug. 12. Officers impounded the weapon.
