Upcoming Traffic Projects Could Impact Lakewood Drivers
Here are some of the upcoming construction plans that could hamper your trips around town.
LAKEWOOD, OH — As the weather continues to warm, Lakewood drivers can expect highway construction projects to crop up and hamper their trips around town.
While the upcoming forecast calls for rainfall across Northeast Ohio, teams from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will be plopping orange barrels down and continuing construction this weekend and next week.
Between this weekend and next week, these are some of the projects that will impact the western portion of Cuyahoga County.

- I-71 resurfacing between W. 117th Street and I-480 ramps at W. 150th Street, W. 130th Street and Bellaire Road in Cleveland.
- New impact: I-71, between I-480 and W. 117th Street, will have various weekend lane closures starting May 14 and continuing through October 2021.
- I-71 lane addition and retaining wall addition.
- New impact: I-71 south to SR 176 ramp will be closed starting May 14 at 9 p.m. through May 17 at 5 a.m. for pavement work.
- Drivers will be detoured to US 42 south to SR 94 south to I-480 east.
- I-480 Valley View bridge deck replacement.
- New impact: I-480 west, just west of I-77, will be closed starting Saturday at 12 a.m. through 11 p.m. for pavement work.
- Drivers will be detoured to I-77 north to I-490 west to SR 176 back to I-480.
- New impact: I-480 west, just west of I-77, will have various lane closures and short duration lane closures starting Sunday, from 12 a.m. until 12 a.m. Monday, for pavement work.
- W. 44th bridge replacement.
- New impact: I-90 under W. 44th will be closed Saturday from 2:30 a.m. until 7 a.m.
- Drivers going east will be detoured along W. 44th to Marginal Road to W. 41st to I-90 east
- Drivers going west will be detoured along W. 41st to Marginal Road to W. 44th to I-90 west.
