Weekly COVID-19 Update For Lakewood: ZIP Code Counts

New COVID-19 cases continue to pile up locally.

LAKEWOOD, OH — There have been more than 2,300 COVID-19 cases associated with a Lakewood ZIP code, according to the Ohio Department of Health.

The 44107 ZIP Code has been home to 2337 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began. That's up nearly 150 cases from last week.

Another ZIP code which touches Lakewood, 44116, has had 925COVID-19 cases among residents. That's up from 842 last week.

The Ohio Department of Health confirmed its fewest new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours on Wednesday, though health officials said laboratories were battling technical issues that may have artificially deflated the count.

While new COVID-19 cases may be on the decline, deaths and hospitalizations related to the virus continue to surge. If cases remain on the decline, it could be a week or more before other metrics begin to decline in Ohio.

COVID-19 vaccinations began this week in Ohio. Gov. Mike DeWine believes Ohio will receive approximately 660,000 COVID-19 vaccines in December and another 660,000 vaccines in January.
