LAKEWOOD, OH — The Lakewood dining scene is the darling of Northeast Ohio, spawning local gems and regional brands, but which restaurant deserves national attention?

Patch asked readers to chime in with their picks for which eatery needs to steal the limelight. There were a bevy of answers, but a few favorites quickly emerged.

Pepper's Italian Restaurant received multiple votes, as did The Root and Sarita. Other establishments that garnered at least one vote include: Salt, Proper Pig Smokehouse, Dinerbar on Clifton and Forage.

"We are honored by the readers for the love. I think our absence made their harts grow fonder and our reopening is kind of like a comfort and longing for the way things where. Again it is an honor to be recognized!" said Joe Pinzone, owner of Pepper's.

One generous reader said "every restaurant" in Lakewood deserved more attention. We're not sure he's wrong.
