Woman Chases Burglar Out of Her Home

Burglary: A woman in the 1500 block of Coutant Avenue told police that she caught a man breaking into her home through a window around 1 a.m. Aug. 30. She chased him away, but police were unable to find him.

“Out of control” student: A seventh-grader at Harding Middle School was charged with assault and criminal damaging after he went “out of control” and attacked the staff at the school at around 9 a.m. Aug. 28.

Breaking and entering: Police received a report that two men were breaking into North Coast Wine and Beer at around 5 a.m. Aug. 29.

Possession of hypodermic needle: After responding to a report of a “suspicious man” at the East End Market at around 8 p.m. Aug. 29, police found the man in possession of a hypodermic needle. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Selling magazines, stealing money: A woman in the 1400 block of Rockway Avenue told police Aug. 30 that a woman selling magazines door-to-door stole $400 from the home.

Stealing from a church? Police received a report that $100 was stolen from the school office at Gethsemane Lutheran Church on Aug. 30.

Pedestrian sign damaged, replaced: The pedestrian crosswalk sign at Manor Park and Detroit avenues was run over and damaged Aug. 30. The sign was replaced.
