10-Year-Old Girl Dead After I-90 Accident
Two other people are in critical condition after a Chevy was hit by a semi-truck and slid down an embankment.
MENTOR, OH — A 10-year-old girl is dead after a two-car accident on I-90 in Mentor. Two other people, including a 6-year-old, are in critical condition, police said.
At approximately 12:30 a.m. Friday morning, a semi-truck hit a 2008 Chevy on I-90 westbound, between SR 306 and SR 615. The crash sent the Chevy down an embankment.
There were three people in the Chevy. The driver, a 37-year-old from South Euclid, is in critical condition, at Hillcrest Hospital. A 6-year-old boy is at Cleveland Metro, in the ICU, in critical condition. A 10-year-old girl passed away from her injuries.

The driver of the semi-truck, a 56-year-old from Strongsville, was not injured. In a 911 call released by the city, a caller describes the truck as a UPS vehicle.

Mentor Police and Fire crews rushed to the scene. I-90 westbound was closed for approximately four hours while the accident was investigated. There are no charges yet announced resulting from the accident.
Police said no further information is currently available because the investigation is ongoing.
I-90 westbound lanes are now reopened.
Update: Police originally said a 9-year-old girl died in the accident. The girl was actually 10-years-old. This story has been updated to reflect that information.
