Akron Man Sent to Hospital After Mentor I-90 Accident

A Tuesday night three-car accident on I-90 resulted in the injury of the three drivers, sending one to the hospital.

Mentor police responded to a three car accident on Interstate 90 Tuesday, injuring three drivers who were the only people in their respective cars.

A man from Willoughby, 20, driving a 2006 Acura struck a 52-year-old Akron man’s 2000 Ford in the rear, causing the Acura to veer off the road. The Ford, meanwhile, was struck by a Geneva man, 50, driving a 2011 Toyota. The accident occurred on the eastbound road of I-90 about half a mile from Sate Route 306 at around 10:14 p.m..

The Akron man was life flighted to Metro Hospital in fair condition, while the other two drivers were not transported by rescue from the accident.

The accident closed down the eastbound lanes of I-90 for about four hours. The cause of the accident is unknown and still under investigation.
