Car Plows Into 2 People At Mentor Walmart, 1 Dead

An elderly woman hit two pedestrians on Monday, Mentor officials said.

MENTOR, OH — One person is dead after a woman hit two pedestrians outside of the Walmart on Mentor Avenue on Monday. The deceased victim went into full cardiac arrest and later succumbed to her injuries, according to Mentor Police.

The driver was reportedly an elderly woman in a late model Chevrolet. She hit the two pedestrians a little after noon on Monday, police said.

The victim that went into full cardiac arrest was taken to Tripoint Medical Center, where she later passed. Police said they are withholding the victim's name until their family can be notified.

The second pedestrian, a wheelchair-bound Walmart employee was taken to Lake West with minor injuries, police said.

The driver was also taken to Tripoint for a minor injury and a medical evaluation.

The Walmart building sustained some minor damage in the crash, but will remain open. Police are still investigating the incident and are on-scene at the store.

The accident is being investigated by the Crash Reconstruction Unit and that investigation will be reviewed for any applicable charges once the investigation is complete. Police said they will provide updates at a later time.
