Mentor Announces Road Closures for Fourth of July Fireworks

Munson Road, Center Street and Route 2 exit ramps will be affected Thursday night.

You had better plan accordingly and travel early in order to catch the Fourth of July fireworks celebration in Mentor.

City Manager Ken Filipiak announced a few road closures that will take place prior to, during and after the celebration, which is scheduled to begin at 9:50 p.m. Thursday at Mentor High School.

Here are the closure locations and times:

  • Munson Road, from Hopkins Road to Civic Center Boulevard, will be closed from 9 to 11 p.m.
  • Northbound traffic on Center Street from Tyler Boulevard will be prohibited from the end of the display until traffic is "back to normal," Filipiak said.
  • The eastbound and westbound Route 2 exit ramps onto Center Street will be closed from the end of the display until traffic is clear.
The Headlands Fourth of July parade takes place from noon to 1 p.m., but no road closures were announced for that event.

"Residents are reminded to be patient in the traffic arriving from and leaving the events," Filipiak said.
