Heavy Snow on the Way for Mentor: Forecast

The rest of the week will be chilly and snowy. We wish we had better news.

MENTOR, OH - Winter is most definitely here. The first significant snowfall of the year hit Northeast Ohio this weekend and while schools remained in session on Monday for most of the area, that didn't make the weather any less unbearable.

Sadly, it's going to get worse this week. As we head into the last stretch before the holidays, temperatures are expected to bottom out late this week at sub-20 degrees. You can also expect a steady amount of snow throughout the week, though forecasts are currently calling for mostly light accumulations.
Here's a look at how the rest of the week is going to shake out.

Tuesday - Expect a light snow through the afternoon. A high of 34 and a low of 24.

Thursday - Grab a coat because the end of the week is going to be frigid. The high for Thursday will be 18 degrees. You read that right. Eighteen degrees is the high. The low is a tropical 12 degrees. Wind gusts of 22 mph will add that bone biting chill we all know so well. Snow is expected throughout the day, with the forecast calling for 2 to 5 inches.

Friday - The snow will pile higher and things won't get warmer at the end of the work week. A high of 20 degrees and a low of 8 degrees means it will be a very cold end-of-the-week. Snowfall will persist through the morning with another 2 to 5 inches falling.

Saturday - The weekend will warm up for once. A high of 48 is expected and a low of 21 degrees, so expect some big temperature swings throughout that day. There will be a mixture of snow and rain falling throughout the day.

Sunday - Another big temperature range. A high of 38, a low of 20. More snow will fall that day, with 1 to 3 inches expected.
