Mentor Council Approves Plaza Boulevard Extension Bid
JTO Inc. won the bid for $2.51 million.

Mentor City Council approved a bid for the long-awaited Plaza Boulevard extension project at Tuesday evening's meeting.
The governing body awarded the project to JTO Inc., which bid $2.51 million, according to a report from The News-Herald.Â
The project will extend Plaza Boulevard by about 1,700 feet to the Tyler Boulevard business district. Construction is expected begin some time this fall and finish by next summer.
Other work includes two at-grade railroad crossings, a drainage system, traffic and railroad signal improvements, reconstruction of Clover Avenue, turn lanes and a traffic signal at the intersection of Tyler and Clover Avenue, according to the newspaper.
The project was originally budgeted at $3.4 million. The city secured $900,000 in grants and loans from the state earlier this year. Bond revenues will fund the remaining cost.
