Mentor’s 2017 General Election Results Released

Voters in the City of Mentor, Ohio decided on city council members, school board members, city, county levies and state issues.

MENTOR, Ohio -- The Lake County Board of Elections posted results of last night’s 2017 General Election on its Web site. The City of Mentor voted on City Council seats, levies, school board races and more.

CITY COUNCIL
City of Mentor voters elected Janet A. Dowling, Scott J. Marn and Ray Kirchner to City Council yesterday. Each candidate ran unopposed for an at-large seat on the council.

BOARD OF EDUCATION
Voters in Mentor elected three members to the Board of Education including: Virginia Jeschelnig, E. Kenneth Buckley and Deanne Roberts

FIRE DEPARTMENT LEVY, REZONING
Mentor voters passed a $1.5 million Fire Department Levy.

They also approved one rezoning project and rejected two others.

LAKE COUNTY
Lake County voters approved levies for Childrens’ Services and Senior Citizens, renewing and increasing support for both.

STATE ISSUES 1 and 2
Voters throughout Ohio passed State Issue 1, Crime Victims’ Rights. A little over 85 percent of Lake County voters supported the issue as well with 46,235 votes.

Ohio’s State Issue 2 on Drug prices failed, however. Lake County voters followed suit and did not support the issue as 42,760 Lake County votes went against the issue and only 11,270 supported it.
