Mentor Schools' Summer Camps Go High Tech
School district announces tech themes for week-long camps for Ridge, Memorial Middle School Students, registration begins next month
MENTOR, Ohio: Mentor Schools' officials released an impressive lineup of new summer camps for those entering 5th through 8th grades last week. The schools, which have offered summer camp programs with a large variety of topics for years, will now be offering technology themed camps geared toward kids who love computers, robots, and other electronics.
Students will have two high tech camps from which to choose: 3D design camp for those entering grades 7 and 8, and iMovie & Lego Robotics for students entering grades 5 and 6.
Would be 7th and 8th graders in the 3D design camp will get to use a 3D printer, laser engraver, and vinyl cutter as they develop skills in Computer Aided Design. Each participant will create a project that they'll be able to take home at the end of the camp.

5th and 6th graders will learn how to produce movies on iMovie software and use special Lego software to make movement commands on Lego robots.
The camps each last one week, from August 3-7, and each has a registration fee of $175. A Mentor Schools representative said the camps could possibly sell out, as the camps are only open to the first 20 and 40 students each, respectively.
