Mentor Woman Arrested for Forging Over 150 Oxyconton Prescriptions

The woman sold the pills to help pay off student loan debt and support her relative through rehab.

A Mentor woman was arrested Monday for forging over 150 oxycontin prescriptions and selling the pills.

Crystal Facemyer, 22, wrote 156 fake prescriptions, collecting oxycontin pills at 27 different pharmacies in Lake and Cuyahoga counties, Lake County Narcotics officials told Newsnet 5. Facemyer illegally obtained over 9,000 pills, selling them for a total of $75,000, officials said. In order to obtain the pills, Facemyer used blank scripts stolen from a heart doctor and used the names of 17 friends and relatives without their knowledge.

Oxycontin is an opioid prescribed as pain medication for moderate to severe pain, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse. The pills can produce a sense of well-being and pleasure because the drug attaches itself to receptors in the brain. Those that abuse oxycontin often crush the pills in order to snort or inject the drug, which increases the sense of euphoria, but is much more dangerous.
