First Campus Blood Drive Set for Wednesday, Sept. 6 at Miami's Oxford Campus

Miami University hosts the most blood drives for the Community Blood Center of Dayton. The first is set for Sept. 6 in the Shriver Center.

OXFORD -- The first campus blood drive of the new year is set for Wednesday, Sept. 6, said the Community Blood Center of Dayton.

Miami is the blood bank's largest account with a total of 17 blood donation drives a year.

The first drive will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Shriver Center Heritage Room, 701 East Spring St.

Donors can choose a free t-shirt or other available donor gift. Those interested in donating blood can schedule an appointment here or call 1-800-388-GIVE.

Last academic year, Miami hosted 10 student blood drives, totaling 811 donors, 270 first-time donors and 619 donations.

The Miami faculty and staff hosted an additional five blood drives and the calendar also included the two-day “Greek Week Blood Drive,” the biggest blood drive at Miami and in the CBC region.

In 2016 the student, faculty and Greek Week blood drives totaled 1,704 donors, 566 first-time donors and 1,357 donations.

This year's Greek Week 2017 blood drive is set for Sept. 12-13.
