McVay’s new role as head coach puts Miami’s football program in the limelight once again. “It’s not surprising to see Miami graduates doing big things at the NFL level. They don’t call it the Cradle of Coaches for nothing,” said current Miami quarterback, Gus Ragland. “When I see a coach not even 10 years out of college get the head job for the Rams, it doesn’t catch me off guard.”

Miami University is known for creating great coaches. McVay is joining big names in the NFL like John Harbaugh, Paul Brown, Bo Schembechler, who are all inducted into Miami 's Cradle of Coaches and are honored with statues at Yager Stadium.

According to the Rams' website, Owner Stan Kroenke said he was very impressed with McVay's accomplishments in the league. “We are confident in his vision to make this team a consistent winner and we will all continue to work together to achieve our ultimate goal – bringing a Rams Super Bowl championship home to Los Angeles.”

This new position will be his first time as a head coach. Before signing with theRams, McVay was the Washington Redskins’ offensive coordinator for three seasons.
