Miami Confirms Death Of Female Student On Campus

Authorities are investigating the death of an unnamed student in Morris Hall on Miami's Oxford campus.

Just three days before the start of spring semester, Miami University is reporting that a student has been found dead in Morris Hall on the Oxford campus.

According to multiple news accounts, officials were on the scene this morning.

Miami spokeswoman Claire Wagner told the Hamilton Journal-News that Miami police were investigating the death of a female student. “The family is being notified and the Butler County coroner was called,” Wagner said. “Our sincere condolences go to family and friends.”

Media accounts in Journal-News, The Cincinnati Enquirer and WLWT.com did not include the student's name or any indication of the cause of death.

This is the second death of a Miami student in a week. Erin Rodriguez, a 20-year-old junior from Highland Beach, Fla., died her in sleep last Friday.

Spring semester classes begin Monday at Miami.
