Chip Rogers, assistant coach for the field hockey team, said he is happy to see Nugent earn recognition now that the regular season is under way.

“For her to get any kind of recognition is great,” Rogers said, noting the other highly skilled teams and players in the MAC conference. “It’s great to see her become a part of the system as quickly as she has.”

The Redhawks are in the midst of a busy weekend. They are undefeated. They hosted UMass-Lowell, Ball State and Boston University at the Miami Invitational. The four-day, four game event took place at the home field hockey complex in Oxford.

The team will continue to prepare for the weekend just as it did for its wins on the road.

“This fall season is a kind of culmination of our preparation from the past months,” Rogers said. “Every game is an opportunity for us to get better.”

The Redhawks played their first game of the invitational against UMass-Lowell on Sept. 1.
