Miami University: Miami Ranks In The Top 50 As One Of The Nation's "Best Value Public Colleges"

Miami University is ranked in the top 50 as one of the nation’s “Best Value Public Colleges,” the Princeton Review Reports.

The education services company lists Miami as No. 37 among top public schools in its annual listings released today (April 20). Miami is among 200 schools selected from a pool of 650 the company considered this year.

“These are the nation’s top colleges for students seeking a superb education with great career preparation and at affordable prices,” according to the Princeton Review.

In addition, Miami also ranked in three other best value categories for undergraduate education.

No. 13 — “Top Public Best Schools for Internships”

No. 15 — “Top 50 Entrepreneurship”

No. 35 — “Top 50 Game Design”

“Employers are confident that our students come to them equipped to excel in the workplace because our dynamic faculty prepares them to thrive inside and outside of the classroom,” said Miami President Gregory Crawford. “Despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, Miami students and faculty have found innovative ways to persevere and transform the educational experience.”

Princeton Review touts Miami’s devotion to excellent undergraduate instruction

The Princeton Review chose its Best Value Colleges for 2021 based on data from its surveys of students attending the schools as well as PayScale.com com surveys of alumni of the schools about their starting and mid-career salaries and job satisfaction figures.

In all, The Princeton Review crunched more than 40 data points to tally ROI (Return on Investment) ratings of the colleges that determined its selection of the 200 schools for the 2021 project. Topics covered everything from academics, cost, and financial aid to graduation rates, student debt, alumni salaries, and job satisfaction.

The Princeton Review editors praise Miami for its “devotion to excellent undergraduate instruction,” as reported by students who took the survey. Students responding to the survey praised Miami’s curriculum and job readiness tools. 

“Miami University students are recruited by companies, and that provides great leverage when looking for internships and jobs,” students reported.

In 2019-2020, employers placed more than 78,000 internship and job postings on the university's electronic job board.

ROI at Miami means top rankings

The new Princeton Review recognition builds on other rankings published this spring.

Other noted recognitions include a top 50 ranking at No. 46 for best national public universities in the "U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges of 2021" guidebook.

In a special list, Miami is in the top tier of national institutions recognized for its faculty’s “unusually strong commitment to undergraduate teaching.”

The Princeton Review recognized Miami in its annual book, The Best 386 Colleges, published in August. Miami also is named a “Best Midwestern College” and on the “Green Colleges” list by The Princeton Review.
