Construction is underway on The Verge, a new apartment complex for Miami University students and staff.
The building will open for move-in on Aug. 18, 2018, according to Regional Manager Laura Cunningham. It is located at 940 Arrowhead Drive, off East Chestnut Street, on the southern border of Miami's campus.

The Verge is replacing Miami Village Apartments, which was demolished earlier this year.
The new complex is currently pre-leasing rooms for the 2018-19 school year. Rooms will be rented out separately. Monthly rent runs from $650 to $660, and security deposits are $150. The building will house 404 students, with 56 rooms already booked.

Units and amenities
Each unit will have four bedrooms, two baths and a washer and dryer. They will be around 1,200 square feet and come fully furnished with cable TV and Wifi.
Cunningham said the building has a variety of amenities.
“Our best amenity is that we are brand new,” she said. “We are directly across from campus, and we have 24-hour maintenance.”
The complex also has a social lounge with pool and foosball tables and a fitness center.
The Verge also owns an apartment complex near the University of Cincinnati.
Housing surplus in Oxford
Jen O'Brien, director of off-campus outreach for Miami, said Oxford doesn't need more student housing.
"There are already plenty of places to live," she said. "We already have vacancies."
Though The Verge will be replacing Miami Village, so not actually adding new beds, it is part of an influx of new buildings going up in Oxford.
The Verge will be competing with several other options for student housing, such as The Annex, Chestnut Place Apartments, and the variety of homes and apartments in the Uptown area.
