Baseball Bats and Firearms

According to a 911 caller, a number of juveniles were inside a home when two men knocked on the door. They said that they were there to “babysit." One of the men proceeded to hit one of the juveniles with a baseball bat, while one of the men also pulled a firearm, according to a witness statement in the police report.

The witness thought that the victim and assailants were friends, until she saw them begin to hit the victim with the baseball bat.

The victim tried to evade the Miami University Sgt. Yates by running behind the house, but was eventually caught by the MUPD. The victim was taken to McCullough Hyde Hospital for treatment, the police report said.

Officer Joshua Jenkins said he initially was told that the victim had been stabbed as well as hit with a baseball bat. But Jenkins discovered no one had been stabbed.

Airsoft Weapons Found

One of the rooms in the apartment had three Airsoft pistols laying on the living room floor. The weapons are replicas of real guns that shoot plastic pellets.

The victim, who Patch is not naming because he is seventeen, told officers his knife was stolen.

Authorities had not arrested anyone in the theft and assault.
