BEREA, OH - The Berea City School District's Board of Education released a statement on Feb. 7 celebrating the district's diversity and inclusion. The Board said the message was meant to reassure families in the district.

The Board's statement reads,

"The Berea Board of Education recognizes through our vision that we are a diverse community dedicated to inspiring lives of a character, learning, leadership, and service, which requires diligence in teaching a message of tolerance, acceptance, and strength of diversity. The District strives to provide a safe learning environment where ALL students are seen, valued, cared for, respected, and welcomed."

The Board also said that recent events inspired the decision to send out the message. President Donald Trump's executive order on immigration and refugees have inspired protests across the nation and the condemnation of the orders by several politicians, including Ohio's Senators Sherrod Brown and Rob Portman.
