Cleveland Community Rallies to Save Lives from Prostate Cancer

Fifth Annual Zero Prostate Cancer Run/Walk Event Returns to Middleburg Heights this August

To end a disease that takes the life of an American man every 20 minutes, Cleveland joins 35+ communities across the nation in hosting the ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk. ZERO – The End of Prostate Cancer and SouthWest Urology will bring together the community on August 27 for a 5K run/walk to save lives and help the more than 6,000 men in Ohio who will be diagnosed with prostate cancer this year.

“For the past 10 years, the ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk has rallied communities and given participants a voice in the fight to end prostate cancer,” said ZERO CEO Jamie Bearse. “By mobilizing survivors, patients, caregivers, families, and businesses in communities across the country to raise funds and awareness, we can make prostate cancer a national priority.”

One of those survivors is Donald Ceboll, an Army veteran who fought at D-Day and has been recognized as a local hero in his community. Don was diagnosed with prostate cancer nearly 30 years ago. Now 94, Donald’s cancer recurred; though with minimal pain, he is still able to remain as active and strong as ever. Raising awareness locally for men like Don, who have battled or are battling the disease, is one of the most important aspects of the ZERO – Prostate Cancer Run/Walk - Cleveland. In addition to increased awareness among the local community, funds raised for this year’s Run/Walk event will go toward national efforts to provide research for new treatments, to enhance patient support resources, and to educate men and families about prostate cancer.
