Cleveland Orchestra Announces Residency At Local College

This collaborative residency will provide educational opportunities for Baldwin Wallace music and arts administration led by musicians.

From The Cleveland Orchestra: The Cleveland Orchestra and Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music have announced a special residency partnership for the 2018-19 season and academic year. This collaborative residency will provide educational opportunities for Baldwin Wallace music and arts administration students led by Cleveland Orchestra musicians, conductors, and administrative staff.

“We are all looking forward to this unique opportunity and the special offerings that the upcoming season’s residency with Baldwin Wallace University will provide,” says André Gremillet, Executive Director, The Cleveland Orchestra. “Across the past decade, The Cleveland Orchestra has continued exploring a range of new ideas and programs in order to expand our education and community programs. We are constantly looking for innovative and efficient ways to reach more people — students of all ages and adults throughout the community — with meaningful musical experiences. The Orchestra and Baldwin Wallace have a rich history of collaboration across many decades, in which Cleveland Orchestra musicians and administrators have taught and mentored new generations of artists and arts administrators. This will be the first time The Cleveland Orchestra and Baldwin Wallace have formally teamed up for a season-long program of offerings. It will be a tremendous experience for everyone involved.”

“We are honored to amplify our longstanding partnership with The Cleveland Orchestra next year, and we are most grateful to BW Trustee Steve Boesel for making this possible,” says Susan Van Vorst, dean of the Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music. “The Conservatory’s brand of excellence in professional training for aspiring young musicians is grounded in the type of experience and high standards that our Orchestra colleagues embody. Access to members of The Cleveland Orchestra through applied lessons and studio classes is a primary draw for musicians studying at BW. It is our intention in crafting this collaboration that Conservatory students from all disciplines—performance, music education, music therapy, music theatre, composition, theory, history and literature, administration and entrepreneurship—will be impacted through their engagement with musicians and administrators who are among the world’s top echelon of artistic professionals.”
