Middleburg Heights Native Drafted By Texas Rangers

MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, OH - Middleburg Heights resident and Miami RedHawk pitcher Spencer Mraz was drafted by the Texas Rangers last week.

Mraz was selected in the 33rd round becoming the 985th overall pick.

In 13 starts, and 15 appearances, in 2019, Mraz was 5-6 with a 4.03 ERA. He notched 72 strikeouts in 76 innings pitched.

The highlight of his 2019 season was a 7.1 inning outing against Bowling Green State University, when Mraz allowed only one hit and struck out 13 batters.

In his first year at Miami, Mraz appeared exclusively as a relief pitcher, posting a team-best 2.41 ERA over 12 innings pitched. He was 0-2 that year, with 12 strikeouts.

During his three-year RedHawk career, Mraz has a 3.92 ERA over 48 apperances.

Mraz is 6'10, 245 pounds. He's a right handed pitcher who graduated from Berea-Midpark High School. He was a three-time letter winner in high school, claiming letters in baseball, football and basketball.
