
BEREA, OH — Nick Discenza has been named the new principal for the Berea-Midpark Middle School. Discenza will leave a principal position in the Parma City School to join the district.
Superintendent Mike Sheppard announced the personnel move in a letter to families and residents. "Nick is a leader who is highly effective at improving teaching and learning, and focused on the growth of students and staff. He will greatly enhance the district's transition to Berea-Midpark Middle School," Sheppard wrote.
Discenza is currently the principal at Shiloh Middle School in Parma. He beat out a "highly competitive" field of candidates for the job at Berea-Midpark Middle School.

Besides serving as a principal for the past six years, Discenza has also served on the board of the Ohio Middle Level Association, as a representative for the northeast. He was also an intern administrator at Hillside Middle School in Parma and, before that, an assistant principal at Willowick Middle School in the Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools.
Before taking administrative roles, Discenza was a 7th and 8th grade social studies teacher in Bedford and a 7th grade social studies teacher at Shiloh Middle School.

He and his wife Allison, a 7th grade math teacher in the Brecksville-Broadview Heights district, have two children, Michael and Lydia.
