Southwest General Further Restricts Visitation Due To Coronavirus
The hospital will not allow any visitors for patients being tested for the new coronavirus, COVID-19.
MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, OH — Southwest General Hospital has again changed its visitation policy to better protect medical workers, patients and visitors. No visitors will be allowed on the general medical or surgical floor and no visitors will be allowed to see patients being tested for the new coronavirus, COVID-19.
The new policies went into effect this week, a hospital spokesperson said in a statement. All visitors will be screened upon entering the hospital and could be turned away if they have a fever.
Visitors will only be allowed to see the following wards at the hospital:

- Pediatric — Only one adult visitor may see the mother during her hospital stay
- Surgical patients may have one visitor on the day of the surgery
- Ambulatory Health Centers, physician offices and the Emergency Room will allow one visitor with a patient
"Patients being discharged from the hospital should now be picked up at the entrance to Building B on our Main Campus. This is effective immediately," the spokesperson for the hospital said.
Exceptions to the visitation rules may be made for end-of-life situations. Guests should talk with the chief nursing officer or chief medical officer if they would like to be granted an exemption from the rule.
