Southwest General Names New Vice President Of Human Resources

Following an extensive search, Joni Edwards, MBA, has been appointed to the position of vice president of Human Resources at Southwest General Health Center.

Edwards has held various positions within the Human Resources Department at Southwest General since joining the organization in 2005. Most recently, she served as the director of Human Resources, a position she held since 2013.

“During her tenure at the hospital, Joni has consistently increased her responsibilities and has demonstrated strong leadership skills,” said William A. Young, Jr., president and chief executive officer, Southwest General Health Center. “She will be not only a strong addition to our Senior Leadership Team but also a strong advocate for our employees, helping us to continue developing a culture that supports all employees.”

A long-standing member of the Southwest General family, Edwards has been pivotal in the development and implementation of a strategic diversity and inclusion plan that encompasses employee and leader development and community involvement. Additionally, she has been instrumental in guiding the Health Center’s employee engagement strategy, which helped increase the hospital’s employee engagement score from the 42nd percentile to the 77th percentile in 2016 and from the 77th percentile to the 86th percentile in 2018.

Edwards holds a Masters of Business Administration from Baldwin Wallace University and a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Administration from Ohio University. She is an active member of the Greater Cleveland Association of Healthcare Recruiters and the Society for Human Resource Management. She resides with her family in Columbia Station.
