St. Adalbert Catholic Parish Voted Best Nonprofit Fish Fry
St. Adalbert's beat six West side and three regional competitors to win Cleveland.com readers' vote for best nonprofit fish fry.

Berea's St. Adalbert Catholic Parish fried the competition and gained Cleveland.com readers' vote for best nonprofit fish fry in Greater Cleveland.
St. Adalbert's win streak got off to a sizzling start, sinking six other non-profits on the West side during a two-week vote. But the church had bigger fish to fry during the final regional round. The church didn't flounder, clamping down on the competition — Cleveland's St. Mel, Northfield Center's St. Barnabas and Chagrin Falls' Church of the Holy Angels.
Voters couldn't carp about St. Adalbert's fried fish, lobsters, fish tacos, clams and salmon. After all, St. Adalbert Catholic Parish has been frying and serving fish since 1995.

"The volunteers worked very hard for many, many years," Matt McDonald, St. Adalbert's business manager told Patch.
They also offer all-you-can-eat cod, coleslaw, pierogies and cabbage and noodles. During the competition, the church served 1,600 pounds of fish each week.

McDonald said they may have struck success by actually baking the fish themselves. “That's just one thing that's struck me… the very family atmosphere,” McDonald said.
