Walk-In Flu Shot Clinic Coming Sept. 26 To Middleburg Heights

From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., residents can get flu shots at the recreation center.

MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, OH — While no one in Northeast Ohio is willing to let go of summer this early, it's never too soon to start thinking about the impending flu season. MetroHealth will bring a walk-in flu shot clinic to the Middleburg Heights Recreation Center on Sept. 26.

No registration is required for the event. The clinic will be put on by the Middleburg Heights MetroHealth Family Health Center pharmacy. The pharmacy will provide pre-filled flu shots, as well as latex free options to participants 14 and older.

The event is targeting adults with typical 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. jobs. The clinic will be open to walk-ins from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. (To stay up to date on local stories, subscribe to the Patch Berea-Middleburg Heights newsletter. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) say a flu shot is one of the primary ways to battle seasonal influenza. Other tips include:

  • Avoiding contact with sick people
  • Cover your nose or mouth when you sneeze or cough. Germs spread easily through the air.
  • If you use a tissue, throw it in the trash afterwards. Don't reuse it.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water.
  • Try to avoid touching your nose, mouth and eyes.
  • Clean and disinfect surfaces frequently, this prevents contamination of objects by germs.
  • Take antiviral drugs as prescribed.
