Moccasin Bend Brewing Co. will host a fundraiser Friday evening to help a local mom and Chattanooga Roller Girls team member fight cancer.
According to a news release, Brooke Mendenhall nee Miller was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer before Christmas. A member of the Chattanooga Roller Girls—her derby name is Malice in Wonderlust—Mendenhall developed a tenderness under her right arm after a practice. Following a mammogram and multiple ultrasounds, a lump was found in her breast.
Mayhem 4 Malice will begin at 6 p.m. at MBBC's new location at 3210 Broad St. All proceeds from the $8 cover charge and silent auction will go directly to help with her medical bills.
MBBC will debut the No. 77 "Cherry Bomb" cider, the first in a series of "Brickhouse Brews." All sales of the new cider will go toward the fundraiser, too.
The silent auction will include services and merchandise from Main Line Ink, Mountain Top Toys, Lodge Cast Iron, Four Bridges Outfitters, Party Girls Dance and Fitness Studio, Niedlov's Breadworks, and Chattanooga Girls Rock.
Live music will be provided by Kryste Dalton.
Mendenhall began chemotherapy Dec. 30. She is scheduled for biweekly chemo treatments, followed by a mastectomy, radiation treatment and reconstructive surgery.
A Go Fund Me page has been set up for Mendenhall's treatment. A goal of $20,000 has been set, and more than $5,000 has been raised thus far.
