THE PRO FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME MARATHON PARTNERS WITH MEALS ON WHEELS OF STARK & WAYNE COUNTIES
Canton, OH – December 19, 2017 – The Pro Football Hall of Fame Marathon is excited to announce its partnership with Meals on Wheels of Stark & Wayne Counties for two 2018 events!
Meals on Wheels will be the main beneficiary of the Super Sunday 5 Miler race on February 4th, as well as one of three beneficiaries from the Pro Football Hall of Fame Marathon event on April 27-29th. This partnership allows Meals on Wheels the opportunity to recruit volunteers, raise public awareness, and fundraise in a welcoming community setting.
Meals on Wheels’ CEO Ted Watko is looking forward to working with the Hall of Fame Marathon Team and finding ways to help both organizations benefit the community.
“This partnership is not just collaborative in nature, but collaborative in mission. The Hall of Fame Marathon is striving to unite the community and rally around sustainable, healthy lifestyles. Meals on Wheels shares a similar goal,” said Watko. “Our mission is to keep people happy, healthy, and independent. Our partnership with the Marathon is an ideal way to promote our shared desire for a healthy community, and we are proud to be a part of something that highlights Canton and encourages local individuals to get involved.”
“We are thrilled to work with Meals on Wheels as we enter our 5th year,” stated Jim Chaney, Executive Director of the Hall of Fame Marathon. “The marathon is truly a community event and we look forward to engaging our volunteers and participants in this worthy activity.”
In addition to being a great opportunity for the HOF Marathon and Meals on Wheels, this partnership is a perfect chance for the community to take action. Individuals interested in getting involved can do so in a variety of ways. They can register to run in either or both races; this allows them to serve as examples of healthy lifestyles, and also brings awareness to the partnership. If running a race is not an option, then individuals can help by “running” a route for Meals on Wheels; the agency is always looking for volunteers to deliver meals. Furthermore, individuals are encouraged to spread the word about the Hall of Fame Marathon races, make donations to Meals on Wheels, and even combine the two by creating their own online fundraisers.
