Massillon, North Canton Residents Honored as Star Performers

The Star Performer program is Canton Mercy's employee recognition and rewards program.

From Canton Mercy: Congratulations to Massillon resident, Staci Freas, unit assistant, 7 Main, and North Canton resident, Maria Lupusoru, Mercy Housekeeping, for being named Mercy Medical Center’s December 2016 Star Performer employees. The Star Performer program is the hospital’s employee recognition and rewards program. Hospital employees, volunteers and staff are nominated each month for demonstrating outstanding performance, being a team player, going “above and beyond”, being creative and innovative and for championing service excellence.

Freas and Lupusoru were nominated for searching through the trash for more than 45 minutes to find money accidentally thrown away by a patient. According to the nomination, this patient was extremely grateful to them for working so hard to find and return her rent money.

Freas has been an employee at the hospital since 2011 and Lupusoru began her career at Mercy in 2007. They were presented with their awards by Thomas E. Cecconi, president & CEO of Mercy Medical Center.Mercy Medical Center, a ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System, operates a 476-bed hospital serving Stark, Carroll, Wayne, Holmes and Tuscarawas Counties and parts of Southeastern Ohio. It has 620 members on its Medical Staff and employs 2,500 people.
