North Canton Voters Approve School Levy
Levies to fund county emergency services and the Developmental Disabilities Board also pass.

Voters in the North Canton school district on Tuesday soundly approved a 2.4-mill permanent improvement levy.
The measure will generate about $1.5 million annually for the North Canton City School District. Revenue will be spent on bolstering security, replacing an aging fleet of buses and catching up on overdue building maintenance.

Stark County voters approved two countywide issues on Tuesday: Issue 1, a levy to fund the Stark Board of Developmental Disabilities and Issue 2, a levy to fund county 911 emergency services.Â
The developmental disabilities levy will raise about $210 million. Revenue will pay for services such as job training, job placement, support services, and education for developmentally disabled Stark County residents.

Issue 2, a 0.1-mill, five-year levy, will generate $616,000 annually for the county and cover 70 percent of the salaries and benefits for the 911 emergency call center’s 16 call takers, a computer technician and half of the director and deputy director’s salaries.
