Owners of Blighted North Canton Homes Headed to Mayor's Court
City officials are working to rid the city of an increasing number of dilapidated homes.

Starting in mid August, owners of blighted homes will be hauled into the North Canton Mayor's Court and questioned on why they have ignored city orders to clean up their unsightly properties.
Eric Bowles, the city's economic development director, launched the foreclosure initiative in May, which involved inspecting every North Canton home to ensure property exteriors and lawns were not in a state of disrepair.
The initiative was spurred in response to the increased number of dilapidated, local homes that cropped up after the housing meltdown, said Bowles.
Owners of blighted homes were given 30 days to clean up their property before citations were issued.
