City Barbecue To Open Solon Restaurant In 2021

SOLON, OH — City Barbecue will open a restaurant in Solon this year, company officials confirmed in an interview with Patch.

"The team here at City Barbeque can't wait to start smoking in Solon," said Market Leader Tina Behring. “We're so excited to keep serving and creating happiness here in Northeast Ohio.”

The restaurant will be built at 6372 Som Center, near the corner of SOM Center and Aurora roads. While construction is always a variable, due to weather and COVID-19, the goal is to open City Barbecue Solon in late August, a company spokesperson said.

For those unfamiliar with City Barbecue, the fast-casual establishment offers — as you might have guessed — classic barbecue fare.

"We do smoked ribs, chicken, brisket, everything you’d expect to find at a backyard barbecue. All of our sides are made from scratch," a spokesperson said.

City Barbecue opened its first restaurant in Columbus in 1999. Over more than two decades, the chain has expanded into Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Georgia and now Greater Cleveland and Michigan.

The restaurant chain has opened three locations in northern Ohio, with spots in Beachwood, Strongsville and Fairlawn. The Solon location will be the fourth Greater Cleveland City Barbecue.

Company officials said they hope the Solon restaurant is opening late enough in the year that an in-person grand opening can be held. Additional details on the opening will be announced as late August approaches.
